Congratulations to ZL on gettin her Citizenship.
Client Born Overseas Comes to Discuss Visa Options and Learns She is Already an U.S. Citizen “Sumaiya Khalique is a fantastic lawyer and a lovely person. It has been a pleasure working with her. At my first meeting with Sumaiya, I was expecting to hear that the process I was seeking assistance with would be expensive and drawn out. Because of her deep knowledge of immigration law, and her persistence, she was able to help me get my U.S. passport in just six months. Sumaiya made the whole process a lot smoother and easier than I could have imagined. She is trustworthy, reliable, and prompt in her communication. Sumaiya was always patient and willing to take the time to explain things I didn’t understand, and she was also available when my family members had questions. I would highly recommend Sumaiya to anyone looking for immigration related assistance.” – ZL
We were so excited to represent ZL! ZL came to see us to discuss visa options for international students to work when she finishes her graduate degree program. After discussing several extensive visa options, we probed a bit more into her background. We realized that she might already be an U.S. Citizen and she did not even have to apply for any visas! We checked the citizenship statutes that applied to her and indeed she and her parent, who was born in the U.S., met the requirements for ZL to prove U.S. citizenship at birth. We immediately applied for an U.S. Passport with supporting evidence and several months later ZL received her U.S. Passport! ZL was shocked but happy to learn that all this time she was already an U.S. Citizen!
Congratulations to ZL – we wish her the best in her academic studies and future endeavors!
