Citizenship Application Approved After Previous Denials
Congratulations to RN on the approval of his citizenship!
RN came to Khalique Law after his first application for U.S. citizenship had been denied several years earlier. Understandably, he was concerned about applying for citizenship again and wanted to make sure his new application clearly demonstrated that he met the requirements for naturalization.
Preparing a Strong Citizenship Application
We prepared a new citizenship application for RN along with supporting evidence to establish his eligibility. During his naturalization interview, however, the USCIS officer raised concerns regarding RN’s previous marriages and his current marriage.
Although we believed these issues did not affect his eligibility for citizenship, his second application was denied.
Applying for Citizenship Again After a Denial
We did not give up on RN’s case.
After carefully reviewing the denial, we filed another application. We included the supporting evidence from the previous filing along with additional documentation and arguments addressing the concerns raised by USCIS.
Our submission emphasized that RN had already met the requirements for naturalization when he previously applied and explained why the issues identified in the denial did not prevent him from qualifying for citizenship.
This time, RN’s application was approved!
A Successful End to a Long Citizenship Journey
After experiencing two previous denials, receiving an approval was an especially meaningful outcome for RN. It was a great pleasure to work with him throughout the process, and we are thankful to have him as part of the Khalique Law family.
Every citizenship application is different, and a previous denial does not necessarily mean that an applicant cannot qualify for citizenship in the future. Understanding why an application was denied and addressing those issues in a subsequent filing can be an important part of determining the appropriate path forward.
