Congratulations to FC, the mom of AC, who has been in the U.S. now for almost 17 years as a Green Card holder.
She thought she would never be able to apply for citizenship because she couldn’t take the test in English. When I told FC, through her daughter, that in fact she can apply for citizenship and she can take the test in her native language, Albanian, she could not believe it!
She did not believe that there was even such a thing as the “over 55 years old/ Green Card holder for at least 15 years exception”! Her daughter told me that she even called a family friend who was familiar with immigration law, put him on speaker in front of the whole family, and asked him if it was possible – expecting him to say “no” and that the lawyer was crazy.
Instead, he said “yes, that is true”. She was over the moon and began to study for the civics test months in advance! When the time for the test came, she took the civics test in her native language, and she passed with flying colors!! She send me this photo right after her oath ceremony and I cannot convey in words how happy I am for her!
If you have lived in this country for at least 15 years as a Green Card holder and are a certain age, you might be able to take the citizenship civics test in your native language. Contact us to learn more
Congratulations FC and thank you for being a part of the Khalique Law family.
